The most unfrotunate

I finished my prayer haphazardly as I have to finish some work after prayer. Though I was tempted to rush for my work I convinced myself to ask something to Allah (Subhana wa ta'ala). It was half harted attempt to make dua. While I was making dua an incident surfaced my memory that I heard from an elderly person. It goes like this:

Moos (alayhi salam) was preparing to go to mount Sinai to meet Allah (Subhana wa ta'ala). He asked his people if they have anything ask to Allah (Subhana wa ta'ala) and people told him whatever they wished to ask Allah (Subhana wa ta'ala). One young man came forward and said, "O Moosa, I am very content with my life, I do not want anything from Allah." Moosa (alayhi salam) replied, "Who can be more unfortunate then you, Allah has taken away from you even the privilege to ask Him for something.

Aren't we in similar category? We are too busy with our life, work, family, passions. Even if we preform daily prayers we perform it physically but our mind is still busy with worldly matters, most of the time these things are not big ones. Things like; how to fix that bug, hot to finish work early, what to buy for today, how to convince the potential customer etc. And after finishing prayer we do not even bother to ask these very same things to Allah (Subhana wa ta'ala).

We should change ourself, we should ask Alla (Subhana wa ta'ala) for whatever we need or want, and that is good no matter how small or big it is. It is He who gives, no mater how hard we try we will get what He wills. He gave us right to ask from Him, and we are such a fool that we are not using it.

The broken laptop...

Today I received my laptop from repair center, and I was exited to use it after a month. With lot of expectation I started it and it ran like a breeze. But my happiness was short-lived as it started showing same symptoms as before. After a while my excitement transformed into frustration, disappointment and anger as it stopped working. I wanted to kick it and throw it out of the window. I thought of being betrayed, thought of not being provided proper service in spite of paying for it. The train of thought went through my mind while my wife was trying to calm me without any apparent success. Knowing me and situation she left me alone for a while. Later she came back to call me to pray as it was time for maghrib. I tried to close my mind from this matter and went for prayer.

After completing prayer I sat for a while and started to think and contemplate. How I became angry when proper service is not given to me. But many times we don't even regret when we miss prayer which Allah (Subhana wa ta'ala) has made obligatory for us. How He (Subhana wa ta'ala) would be angry when I miss to serve Him and miss prayer, and how He (Subhana wa ta'ala) would be happy when I serve him and pray with humiliation.

We must always remember that Allah (Subhana wa ta'ala) is Al-Khaliq and Ar-Razzak, the provider of all things, and He (Subhana wa ta'ala) has all the rights over us. We will never be able to repay for what He (Subhana wa ta'ala) has given us, even if we worship Him for millions of year day and night. But He (Subhana wa ta'ala) has made life easy for us, just give few minutes five times a day and He(Subhana wa ta'ala) will reward us in this and next world.
